Last updated on November 22, 2022

The Red Rock Canyon Nation Conservation Area is a region in Clark County, protected under the National Landscape Conservation System. Red Rock is a short, 20-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip and offers an opportunity for recreational activities—such as hiking—close to home. Additionally, wildlife seen in the area includes burros, desert tortoises, and the occasional bighorn sheep. The eponymous red rock which is also a central fixture of the conservation area is caused by iron oxides in the sandstone.
