Recycle – Just Do It

Last updated on November 22, 2022

Recycling has been making a small comeback in the year 2020 for many reasons, including the upcoming presidential election. Big-name companies such as Nike are now spending more time and money using recycled materials in their products. Nike has been one of the significant companies influencing recyclable materials in its products, including sneakers.

New sneaker releases from Nike use recycled waste, including the Space Hippie Line, 2020 Nike Vapormax, and even basketball sneakers ranging from Lebron James’ signature line and general releases. Nike has used innovative technology using its world-famous Nike air, Nike fly knit, and Nike fly leather that has used recycled materials, including plastic water bottles and renewable energy. Also, the Reuse-A-Shoe program and Nike Grind are sustainability initiatives run by Nike to improve their environmental performance by recycling worn-out shoes and surplus manufacturing materials into various surface materials. Nike has also released clothing, which also includes recycled materials. They use recycled waste and materials in their clothing by using recycled polyester, sustainable cotton, and sustainable blends since 2010.

When we do not recycle, reuse, and reduce, we destroy natural habitats and ecosystems. By failing to reuse what we already have, we’ll end up running out of resources. We can help out the environment in many surprising ways, including what we wear as Nike has been beneficial for the environment by using recycled materials in their products.
