With over 60 casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, one in particular is being replaced. On July 17th, the Mirage, an iconic casino, closed its doors for good. It first opened its doors in 1989, founded by Steve Wynn. Having been open for about 35 years, the hotel has housed many guests and provided tourists with the quintessential ‘Vegas’ experience. This hotel is not the only thing that will be missed.
The Mirage, home of the famous The Beatles LOVE show, had their last dance. The show ended on July 7th, and with a bittersweet goodbye, said hello to a new casino. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will replace The Mirage. The first Hard Rock Las Vegas, was opened in 1995 but closed in 2020. The Hard Rock is set to reopen in 2027 with exciting plans ahead of it.
The Hard Rock Las Vegas will transform into a hotel tower taking the shape of a guitar. This guitar will be as high as 700 feet tall. Along with those plans will be expansions such as new restaurants, new outdoor seating areas, new casino areas, a nightclub and a day club, as well as retail spaces.
The officials of the resort have said when the expansions are completed, the new Hard Rock will be bigger in square footage everywhere. The Theater will seat about 3,000 more people. There will be three more food and drink areas and more. Although there is still a long wait period until this casino can be enjoyed, the anticipation is growing more and more. Las Vegas welcomes the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino back to the Strip.
