Regardless of the goal, all of the merits in achieving said goal are dependent on success in some way, shape or form. Getting all A’s on your report card means you succeeded in every classroom test and assignment. Making it to a varsity football team means you more often than not triumphed in getting touchdowns for your team. Being hired for a job means that you prevailed in convincing your employer to hire you. But achievement being dependent on success makes it that much harder. Being successful in everything you do is just about impossible-nobody’s perfect. Even so, there are still so many ways one can maximize the chances of success in whatever they do.
The fundamental beginning towards succeeding is making sure you’re in the best position to do so in the first place. Being in the best position means getting enough sleep, eating well, and starting off energized without fatigue. In the present day, most people tend to constantly work towards their goals in order to achieve them quicker, not knowing how that’s actually hindering their chances. I’ve lost count of the times where I stayed up past midnight in order to do homework, or study for a big test coming up only to get a disappointing result in the end. The only way I got the outcomes I wanted was when I started to prepare bit by bit days ahead so that I made progress without the strain or fatigue. Even in video games it worked; I loved to play those vintage reliable Flash games on my Chromebook and spend hours getting thrashed against the level or boss, go eat lunch, and then overcome it without any trouble. Whatever it may be, if something is worth doing, then it needs to be done well. Important goals worth doing should be achieved by the version of you that can do them well, and the version most likely to do that is the one at their best.
When you start off at your best, then you need to stay and do your best. What I’m getting at is absolutely no distractions. Keeping unnecessary things in regards to your goals is essential to make sure you keep on working towards them with the pace that’s needed for them. Avoiding distractions alone might not be enough, though. The dopamine reward cycle is a phenomenon which conditions your brain to pick quick pleasure, which produces dopamine, a feel good hormone, over long term effort. In other words, putting something like a phone away doesn’t always guarantee you won’t be scrolling through Instagram’s newest reels in the next twenty minutes. Take it from Demian Borba’s “The science of success”, where they outline how a phone’s notifications enable a visible or audible cue to notice, one that can happen at any time without warning. If you haven’t been living under a rock for nearly the last two decades, then chances are you’ll be conditioned to act almost unknowingly and will open your phone to see what’s up. Fortunately, Mr.Borba offers a solution: if somebody can develop a dopamine reward cycle with their phone, then they can also train themselves to have a dopamine reward cycle with something that is productive in regards to their goals.
Success is a thing that almost always takes time and effort to achieve. Constantly striving for success may be tiring and stressful. For those that aren’t fortunate enough to succeed, the whole process could eventually become futile. Knowing what to do in order to achieve success in all places establishes a way to succeed with neither risk nor randomness. It establishes a way for satisfaction and confidence in whatever you do.
